“Get a load of this!” Jim Carrey is apparently the ideal choice to play Doctor Eggman, according to Hollywood. Or more specifically, Deadline, who leaked the story.
The actor, known for playing zany, slightly off-the-wall characters in movies such as The Mask and Batman Forever is reportedly in talks to take over the world in a live action movie adaptation of the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise.
Uh, yes. Quite how that would play out on the silver screen is anyone’s guess, but it’s not unreasonable to assume that Carrey could be fat-suited up to afford him a more egg-shaped physique. However, I think it more likely that he’ll be slender, clean-shaven, and dunking an olive into a robo-martini, but we’ll have to wait and see.
The Sonic the Hedgehog flick will star James Marsden and Tika Sumpter in as yet unspecified roles, with a script from Pat Casey and Josh Miller. Melissa McCarthy will be playing the title role of Sonic, with Tails being portrayed by Hannah Montana. (Haha, no. But you so know it could happen!) Sonic himself will actually be a CGI addition as per the video games, so you can rest easy on that front.
