Spyro for the Switch? It’s not beyond the realms of possibility. After all, the Crash Bandicoot N-Sane Trilogy made its way onto the console about a year after its PS4 debut.
This latest speculation comes after an erroneous posting appeared on the official Spyro website (now gone, alas) in which the upcoming Spyro Re-ignited Trilogy was listed as being available for pre-order on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch. Here’s how it appeared, as spotted by one fan account on Twitter…
Perhaps unsurprisingly, the additional information disappeared fairly quickly, so I think it’s fair to say we’re in the midst of a cover-up. Mind you, I’m always adding “PC” and “Nintendo Switch” to random lists when I’m not supposed to. It’s so easily done.
I don’t think anyone would be shocked and aghast if the Spyro Re-ignited Trilogy made its way to the Nintendo Switch at some point in the future, but without any official confirmation there’s always room for doubt.
The game – for those of you who don’t know – takes the Spyro trilogy from the original PlayStation and does a bit of a Crash Bandicoot to the franchise, remaking the classic levels with all the graphical power of the current generation. It’s a series I only played briefly in my youth (and my memories of the game are that it was TOUGH) but I have to say I’m tempted to give this a go when it launches this autumn.
Will you be playing the Spyro Re-ignited Trilogy on the PlayStation or Xbox, or will you wait to see if the prophecies of “Spyro for the Switch” come to fruition?
