Cyberpunk PC specs: Can your computer run it?

Wow, it’s fair to say that this came a little sooner than I expected. CD Projekt has released a gameplay video of its upcoming neo noir title Cyberpunk 2077, which has been shrouded in mystery for a number of years. And it’s not just any old gameplay video… a 48 minute video no less, (because 50 minutes would have been cray cray.) If you haven’t already watched it you should do so immediately, and then ask yourself if your computer will be able to meet the Cyberpunk PC specs. And potentially weep.

Okay – the moment of truth. Will you need a Sunway TaihuLight supercomputer with 1.3 petabytes of RAM in order to enjoy this Deckard-esque experience from CD Projekt? Does your CPU need to be a plutonium-powered flux capacitor?

Muchly not, as it turns out. According to a report from IGN, the Cyberpunk PC specs are very achievable. Here’s a lowdown on the computer that was running the demo at this year’s E3…

CPU: Intel i7-8700K
Motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix Z370-I Gaming
RAM: G. Skill Ripjaws, V 2x16GB, 300MHz, CL15
GPU: GeForce GTX 1080TiGeForce GTX 1080Ti
SSD: Samsung 960 Pro 512 GB M.2 PCIe
PSU: Corsair SF600 600W

IGN goes on to explain that the total cost of these components is in the $1800 ballpark on Amazon, which – for us Brits – is about £1300, or €1400 for the rest of Europe. Now it’s true, not many of us have that amount of money resting in our back pockets, but these stats plant the game firmly within the current generation of hardware, so Cyberpunk 2077 is by no means a niche game of the future that will only be available to the privileged few. Indeed, we already know that the title is slated for the PS4 and the XBox One, so owners of those machines can at least rest easy tonight.

Nintendo Switch – yeah, you might have to wait a while…

How do you feel about the Cyberpunk PC specs? Reassured? Unnerved? Were you hoping that the game would take advantage of higher-end next gen power? Leave your thoughts in the comments below.

And just for fun, here’s an episode of Livestream that we produced, based upon the Cyberpunk 2077 demo…
