Could a special Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Switch bundle be on its way this Christmas? This may seem like a strange thing to be speculative – or indeed conspiratorial – about, but there’s nothing the internet likes more than grainy leaked photos of products that haven’t yet been announced. Take a look at this…

Untitled-1

It’s a photo of a photo, apparently originating on the website of the French retailer Carrefour, according to Nintendo Life. It would appear to show an as-yet unannounced Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Switch bundle, incorporating a special Nintendo console and a copy of the much-anticipated Smash Bros. game. This is exciting news for Nintendo and Smash Bros. fans… Unless of course they already own a Switch (as one would expect) in which case it’s a bit of a bummer.

The reason why this supposedly leaked photograph has gathered some weight in recent days is because of the announcement of the Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee! bundles which look remarkably similar to the Smash Bros. image, even down to the positioning of the Pegi boxes and all the other paraphernalia.

But is a special Smash Bros. edition of the Nintendo Switch too much to wish for? I don’t think so… This seems very likely to me, and I would be staggered if Nintendo didn’t have some kind of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Switch bundle available in time for the game’s release on December 7th. It’s arguably the publisher’s most popular franchise, and even more anticipated than the upcoming Pokémon endeavour.

The good news is, I don’t think we’ll have to wait long to find out.
